(ANSA) - SONDRIO, 31 MAY - Emilio Rigamonti, 92, at the helm for decades of the historic sausage factory that still bears the family name even if a few years ago it passed into the hands of a Brazilian meat giant, died in Sondrio.

Rigamonti, for all the 'king' of bresaola, collapsed to the ground in Piazzale Bertacchi, around lunchtime, and the rescue was useless. In 2013 he participated in the celebration for the centenary of the company that made known the salami-prince of Valtellina all over the world. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.

The president of the Consorzio di Tutela Bresaola dellaValtellina, Mario Moro, the board of directors, the members and the staff express their deep condolences for the death of the entrepreneur Emilio Rigamonti, founder of the Consortium in 1998 and first president, in office for a long time.

"We join the pain of the family - said the president of the Consortium, Mario Moro - and all our thoughts go to the man and the entrepreneur he was. He leaves us a person of extreme value. His contribution to the recognition and enhancement of our PGI product was fundamental. His passion for work and for the territory are examples of us".

Ninety-two years old, taking over together with his brother Giovanni in the management of the butcher business opened by his father in 1913, Emilio Rigamonti has contributed to making Bresaola della Valtellina Igp a product known and consumed all over the world. (ANSA).
