Highlights: Residents of the town of Añelo, gateway to what is called "Vaca muerta", the largest gas pipeline in the country, cut two of the access routes to protest the lack of gas service. The cut of Route 17, in the sector of the plateau, had its beginning around midnight on Tuesday; while around 5 o'clock on Wednesday a second blockade was established, that of Route 7, at the exit to San Patricio del Chañar. At noon the cut that was on Route 7 was lifted, but the passage of Route17 continues to be blocked because a dialogue table was opened.

With winter approaching, the inhabitants of the town of Añelo ask that the works be accelerated.

Residents of the town of Añelo, gateway to what is called "Vaca muerta", the largest gas pipeline in the country, cut two of the access routes to protest the lack of gas service through networks: national routes 7 and 17. And although at noon they had lifted the blockade of Route 7; the other continues.

The cut of Route 17, in the sector of the plateau, had its beginning around midnight on Tuesday; while around 5 o'clock on Wednesday a second blockade was established, that of Route 7, at the exit to San Patricio del Chañar, according to Diario Rio Negro.

While the gas pipeline to Buenos Aires goes through the final stage of tests, to begin with the exploitation of this important energy pole, the routes that go to the mega formation were this Wednesday the scene of protest due to lack of gas in the vicinity of the reservoir.

According to local media, the protesters are calling for the completion of the works to connect homes to the natural gas network, shortly before the start of winter. That is, they demand that the gas works be carried out and, in the meantime, that they be given a solution to face the cold months.

"In October of last year an agreement was signed for the realization of the gas works by networks, but we are in June and the works are still unfinished," explained Nicolás Álvarez, one of the inhabitants of Añelo.

Speaking to LU5, he added: "We are 480 families who are claiming. The claims have to do with gas and lighting projects, which were also nothing done."

"Due to the lack of works, it has to be heated with electrical appliances or firewood, since there are problems with the supply of bottles. We do not have continuous supply of bottles. In addition, there are people who do not have bottled gas, this is the situation we live in Añelo, "explained Álvarez.

A blockage remains

"At noon the cut that was on Route 7 was lifted, but the passage of Route 17 continues to be blocked because a dialogue table was opened," confirmed the commissioner of the place, Claudio Viñet.

"There is dialogue with neighbors and private cars can pass. It's not that the passage is totally cut off," the head of security told the Rio Negro newspaper.

Viñet clarified that he is personally carrying out the dialogue with the demonstrators and assured that so far there has been no approach of any type of officials, neither local nor provincial, to solve the conflict.
