After a few years of working from home, many employees are now returning to their office – just like the owner of this dog, who is deeply saddened by this, as a TikTok video shows.

On the popular social media platform TikTok, the sugar-sweet video of a dog who misses his master terribly at home has received over 600,000 views and almost 85,000 likes.

"Over the past few years, my fiancé has always worked from home, so my dog has been able to spend his days with his favorite person: his dad." This is how the owner of the TikTok account Abby (@harveytherescue) describes the past of her partner Ethan and their dog Harvey. In addition, she shows a video of the two, in which Harvey lies in the arms of his owner, who apparently actually has work to do. The rescue dog doesn't seem to care about this fact – the main thing is that he gets his well-deserved cuddle.

Dog disagrees with decision: "He's waiting for his father to come home."

Now the situation has apparently changed: "His company has recently started to go back to the office. Harvey isn't used to his father leaving every morning." Accordingly, male Harvey sadly looks after his master Ethan Beek through a window when he leaves the house for work. The faithful furry friend eagerly awaits his favorite person to come home again: "That's why every morning when his father walks out the door, he just sits there and waits," Abby writes. Under the curtains, Harvey peeks for signs that his human dad is finally coming back to him.

Mistress has an idea: A visit to the office makes it easier for dog Harvey to wait for his master

Harvey's owner, Abby, feels sorry for her darling and also has an idea to cheer up the grieving Harvey: "So I took him to the office the other day to bring him lunch." The light brown male dog happily runs up to his master Ethan - who greets him and the furry nose can hardly believe her luck. But a short time later, the two have to say goodbye again: "That was when he realized he couldn't go in with his dad." Harvey stands there in disbelief, even runs to the front door of the company and looks after Ethan, who has to get back to work after the far too short reunion.

A solution has to be found: So that Harvey can see his dad more often, he comes home at noon

Because bringing lunch was not enough time for Harvey to spend together, his two owners had to come up with a permanent solution for the sad animal and were soon able to find one that would make Harvey more than happy: "We decided that the dog dad should come home for lunch so that Harvey could see him during the day." So Harvey waits impatiently at the fence at noon until he can finally greet his favorite person at home for a lunch break together. Ethan gives him a tender kiss on the dog's nose – that's all it takes to make Harvey happy. Afterwards, he lies satisfied with his master on the sofa: "Now this is Harvey's favorite time of the day," reports Abby.

In the comments, reactions to the individual working conditions of many workers with pets are piling up:

  • "The way we turn our lives upside down for these animals is the only way to live, they are everything."
  • "They spend most of their lives with us. We spend only a fraction of our lives with them. We have to make sure they know that we love them more than anything."
  • "I quit my job when they moved back to the office. 🫣"
  • "That's the only reason we should all be allowed to work from home forever."
  • "That's what office work demands of us! If the work is done, who cares where it gets done?"
  • "Just look at how the tail wags when it sees its daddy. 🥺🥺"

Ultimately, it is up to all pet owners to decide for themselves what is best for them and their pets. In any case, the purchase of a pet should be well thought out and adapted to individual working conditions.
