Highlights: "Today we are witnessing with interest and attention attempts to identify paths of dialogue to achieve peace", says President Mattarella. "The unacceptable aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine represents the most brutal and obvious denial," adds the Head of State. "Italy will continue to assure its support to the Ukrainian people and their right to independence", adds the President of the Republic of Italy. The Republican Constitution, indicates the repudiation of war as an instrument for resolving disputes, says the President. "This is a very topical and deeply felt principle, of which the unacceptable aggression by Russia against Ukraine is one of the most obvious," adds Mattarella, who was speaking from the Quirinale.

(ANSA) - ROME, JUNE 01 - "Today we are witnessing with interest and attention attempts to identify paths of dialogue to achieve peace. The principles of solidarity and justice which must unite peoples require the search for a just peace and not a peace achieved against those who have been attacked. It is in this spirit that Italy, within the framework of its convinced membership of the European Union and the Atlantic Alliance, will continue to assure its support to the Ukrainian people and their right to independence". This was said by President Sergio Mattarella speaking from the Quirinale.
"The Republican Constitution, daughter of redemption from the tragic experiences of the dictatorship and the Second World War, indicates the repudiation of war as an instrument for resolving disputes. This is a very topical and deeply felt principle, of which the unacceptable aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine represents the most brutal and obvious denial", added the Head of State.
