(ANSA) - KIEV, JUNE 01 - Ukrainian local authorities must ensure that shelters against air raids remain open and accessible 24 hours a day: President Volodymyr Zelensky warned in a video message in which he said that last night when Kiev was hit by yet another salvo of Russian missiles and drones some shelters were locked.
"Protecting the population - said Zelensky - means protecting it at all levels. Shelters must be accessible. A situation like last night, when people arrived at the shelters to find them closed, must never happen again. It is the duty of all local authorities, a clear duty, to ensure that shelters are usable and accessible 24 hours a day. It hurts to see that this duty is neglected. It is painful to see the victims. And if this duty is not fulfilled on the ground, it is the duty of the police to enforce justice," the Ukrainian president continued. (ANSA).
