"

Today we celebrate the 77th anniversary of the birth of the Republic. The values of the choice of 2 June 1946, transfused into the Constitutional Charter of which we remember the 75 years of life, continue to guide us on the path of an authoritative Italy protagonist in that European Union that we helped to build. Freedom, equality, solidarity, respect for the rights of individuals and communities are fundamental pillars of our Constitutional Charter". This was written by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone.

"The values of the Republic and the Constitution inspire the action of the Armed Forces, which contribute significantly to the security framework of our national community and to the cause of peace in the world. The commonality of intent and the synergy they express with the contingents of other countries, in the context of the missions determined by the international community, are crucial elements for the construction of a shared security architecture, the foundation of social stability and collective well-being". The President of the Republic writes.

"The horizon of a truly integrated European defence is the new challenge facing the Armed Forces. The recognition of allies and friendly countries, the esteem and affection of the populations that our soldiers assist, are eloquent proof of the quality of their commitment and of the credibility gained in peace and security missions at the service of the common good", writes Mattarella.

June 2, Mattarella's message for Italians abroad

"Today, working abroad should no longer be a forced choice for anyone, but an opportunity, especially for young people. It is the responsibility of the Republic to ensure that it is a free choice." This was underlined by President Sergio Mattarella in a video message to Italians abroad for June 2. "It is a question - he added - of moving from the 'brain drain' to the circulation of talents; feeding a virtuous circuit of skills and competences".

With the deposition of a laurel wreath at the Altare della Patria by the head of state, Sergio Mattarella, the celebrations for the 77th anniversary of the Republic began. The highest offices were present: Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Presidents of the Senate and Chamber, Ignazio La Russa and Lorenzo Fontana, the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, the military and police leaders. On the Vittoriano the usual overflight of the National Acrobatic Patrol has drawn a huge Tricolor on the sky of the Capital. Subsequently, the President of the Republic will review the departments lined up for the magazine and, later, will attend the military parade at the Imperial Fora. Piazza Venezia is crowded with people rushed to follow the event.

June 2, Meloni: 'Homeland is a set of sacrifices made by those who were there before and for those who will come''

"

The national community, the homeland, in the end is this: a dimension of sacrifices that are made together for those who made it before us and for us who do it towards others". This was declared by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the Republic Day celebrations in Rome. "It's not just a museum celebration. It is the dimension of the fact that either we understand that, if there is difficulty or that things go well, we only come out together, we need everyone to do their part. There is no one who alone can solve problems. Understanding that we are all connected is the cultural element that is needed to understand that we must all row in the same direction," she said.

With the parade of the 300 mayors - wrapped in the Tricolor - the parade at the Imperial Fora for the Republic Day began. Among the first citizens also those of some of the municipalities of Romagna affected by the flood. The exhibition is structured in 10 sectors with the participation of all the components of the State: military and civilian personnel, armed and unarmed bodies of the State, Flags and Banners, Bands and Military Fanfares. A total of 5,500 will be on the catwalk. The stage was as thick as usual: with the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, there are Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Presidents of the Senate and Chamber Ignazio La Russa and Lorenzo Fontana, the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs, Guido Crosetto and Antonio Tajani.
