With good snowfall in Neuquén and southern Mendoza, the 2023 snow season is about to kick off in our country.

Authorities of the Neuquén ski centers Chapelco and Cerro Bayo foresee the opening of the facilities next long weekend of June, which will go from Saturday 17 to Tuesday 20 inclusive, if the weather conditions accompany and continue the snowfall.

From the Chapelco ski center, in San Martin de los Andes, they pointed out that the opening is scheduled "for the long weekend of June, the 17th, if weather conditions allow it."

Chapelco received its first snowfalls and expects a very good season.

"We believe that winter 2023 will continue in line with the 2022 season, which was very good," said the management of this convening ski center.

On the other hand, they added that "expectations are good, especially from the records that were given in the advance purchases of ski passes, which had a discount until the last days of May."

The non-discounted rates of the June long weekend in Chapelco will be those of Low season: the daily pass will cost $ 19,400 for seniors and $ 15,500 for minors; the three-day consecutive pass, $52,400 and $41,900, respectively.

In Cerro Bayo, the boutique ski center located 6 km from Villa La Angostura, the opening of activities will be staggered.

From June 11 it will be accessible by pedestrian and, although this alternative does not allow classic snow sports, it will allow the development of various recreational options to enjoy the winter landscapes from the mountain.

On June 17, as in Chapelco, the skiers area will open, but only for beginners. The pass fee was being set late on Thursday 1/6.

Cerro Bayo will open the beginners sector.

Representatives of Cerro Bayo Ski Boutique pointed out that there is currently a good amount of snow and that "the first stage of the artificial generation system is finished, so the conditions for novice athletes who arrive at the place are guaranteed."

As reported, the total opening of the ski center will depend on the levels of snow and the conditions to enable the rest of the slopes.

"The climatic conditions are decisive for the development of this type of activities; Therefore, there were some seasons in which the enabling of the slopes was postponed from the lack of snow on the summits of the hills, "they explained.

Next Monday, June 5, the referents of the main ski centers will gather in the city of Buenos Aires to launch the official opening of the snow season, which promises to attract both visitors from other Argentine provinces and foreign tourists.

Las Leñas, in the south of Mendoza, will also open the long weekend of June.

Also in Mendoza

For its part, from the Commercial Management of Las Leñas, the ski center located 80 km from Malargüe, in southern Mendoza, confirmed to Clarín that the complex will also open its doors on June 17, so that you can enjoy the snow from the long weekend.

In the last week of May Las Leñas already had 80 cm of snow accumulated at the base and 1.40 m at the summit. For the next season there will be news especially for the guests of the Aries and Scorpio hotels, in which important remodeling and updating works were carried out.

Las Leñas also has numerous extra ski activities.

That weekend Las Leñas will open with Mid-season rates: the daily pass, $ 15,700 for seniors, $ 12,600 for minors. Two-day pass, 29,900 seniors, 24,000 minors.
