A manufacturer has to withdraw its vitamin capsules from circulation for the time being. Some batches of ZeinPharma's dietary supplement are affected.
Munich – For years, dietary supplements have enjoyed great popularity among many people. Vitamin capsules in particular are in vogue. Now a product is affected by a recall. The manufacturer ZeinPharma has recalled its "Vitamin B3 Forte Capsules 500 mg".

Affected by the recall are the vitamin capsules in the 90-piece packaging unit, which have an expiration date of January 31, 2025. In the case of batch numbers C22110387 and C23040128 with said expiration date, the manufacturer says it has determined "as part of an additional, independent quality control" that "the product 'Vitamin B3 Forte Capsules 500 mg' (PZN 18369668) does not meet our quality expectations." ZeinPharma cited the fact that they contain "nicotinic acid instead of nicotinamide" as the specific reason for the recall of its vitamin capsules.
The manufacturer's announcement on the recall of the dietary supplement continued: "Therefore, for reasons of preventive health protection, we ask you not to use the product, but either to dispose of it or to return it to your pharmacy, where you will be reimbursed for your purchase price."

Vitamin capsules affected by recall – they can "cause a flush"
Anyone who continues to consume the vitamin capsules despite the recall must expect health consequences. ZeinPharma warned that "nicotinic acid can cause a flush in some users." These symptoms can occur as a result of:
- Redness of the skin: Sudden and intense redness of the skin on the face, neck, arms or other areas of the body, the skin may feel warm and tingling
- Itch: Along with the redness, temporary itching may occur
- Feeling of heat: A feeling of warmth or heat may occur
- Tingle: A slight tingling sensation or a feeling as if ants are walking over it may appear on the skin
- Increased blood flow: Dilation of blood vessels can cause a temporary increase in blood flow
