Bus ends up on the A16, one dead and 14 injured

One dead and 14 injured: this is the provisional balance of a serious road accident in which a bus with 38 passengers on board was involved, ended up in an escarpment, and 5 cars. The tragedy occurred at 4 am on the A16 Naples-Canosa motorway, towards Naples, near the municipality of Vallesaccarda at km 101. The firefighters of Grottaminarda and Bisaccia and Avellino are at work on site with a crane truck. The injured were transported to Avellino, Benevento, Ariano Irpino and other hospitals. An air ambulance also arrived at the scene of the accident. Firefighters are lifting the bus to retrieve any other passengers.
According to the Autostrade company, at about 6:45 am on the A16 Napoli - Canosa motorway, the stretch between Candela and Grottaminarda towards Naples was reopened, temporarily closed previously due to the accident that involved five cars and a bus at kilometer 100.5. The dynamics of the accident is still being examined by the Traffic Police, although from the first reconstructions it would seem that, following an accident between three cars, in which a motorist died, the bus that arrived hit one of the vehicles stopped in the roadway and then ended its run overturning at the right escarpment. Medical and mechanical assistance, the Fire Brigade, the Traffic Police patrols and the staff of the Cassino Trunk Department of Autostrade per l'Italia promptly intervened at the scene of the accident. Currently at the site of the event traffic passes on a lane in deviation in the opposite carriageway and there is a 1 km queue towards Naples.
