He is his favorite artist. A red (and black) thread in his career and passions. For Henri Loyrette, who presided over the destiny of the Musée d'Orsay from 1994 to 2001, then those of the Louvre until 2013 - who knows and appreciates thousands of ancient and contemporary artists - the work of Edgar Degas (1834 - 1917) is perhaps the most inexhaustible.
He argues it once again in the heart of Paris, on the Richelieu site of the BnF, with an original exhibition. Where the abysmal part of a genius, usually more considered for his colorful fairies - pastels or ballerina oils at the Opera, scenes of Parisian life or afternoon at the racecourse, moreover very applauded currently at the Musée d'Orsay within the confrontation "Manet / Degas" (until July 23).
