A situation that is read as a sort of truce, also thanks to the lexical brake of Brussels. On Monday, the government is expected to ask Montecitorio for a vote of the House by placing confidence in the measure. Palazzo Chigi explains that it has nothing more to add: the eight-point document released in response to Brussels' assessments clarifies Rome's line on the PNR and the Court of Auditors issue. The Commission is therefore trying to calm the waters on the NRP, but does not change its line on the subject of controls. "Constructive exchanges are underway" with Italy and "the Italian authorities provide further information where necessary", said a spokesman asked about the state of negotiations with Rome for the release of the third installment and changes to the Italian plan. "As a general rule, we do not comment on draft national legislative acts," the spokesperson added, referring to the Court of Auditors, recalling however that the Recovery Fund Regulation "requires a control framework tailored and proportionate to its unique nature as an EU spending programme". Words that satisfy Minister Raffaele Fitto: "This clarification resolves the issue", he comments. Even FdI flaunts calm: "Probably the EU has been deceived by a useless controversy put in place by the Pd and M5s", says the group leader Tommaso Foti. Italia Viva, on the other hand, espouses the line of the center-right: Luciano Nobili, approving the thesis supported by the constitutionalist Sabino Cassese, observes that "the government has done well on the choice to limit the preventive control of the Court of Auditors". Osvaldo Napoli, of Azione, is of the opposite opinion. The amendment with which the government extends by one year and circumscribes the area of criminal liability for tax damage, in addition to eliminating the concomitant control of the Court of Auditors, observes, "is revealing itself for what it is: an alibi to hide the political failures of the executive that has wasted precious months to transfer the control room from the Ministry of Economy, of the League, to Minister Fitto, of Fratelli d'Italia".
