Coni sports field named after Gianluca Vialli

"Today it is Gianluca's field, but it will also be for all Italian sportsmen". This is how Giovanni Malagò, president of CONI, commented on the naming of camp 3 of the Olympic preparation center of Coni Giulio Onesti to Gianluca Vialli who died in January. "When we met in the Council a few months ago thinking of naming the camp after him, it was not really an emotional choice of the moment - he continued - Gianluca had left us, we know the path that accompanied him, his legacy and his message. Today we are in the Olympic preparation center of CONI, named after Giulio Onesti, a gentleman who after the war was sent by the Constituent Government with a precise idea: to close the CONI. Within a few years he transformed himself from liquidator commissioner to president of great foresight. He did it because in Coni he was already an excellence in the world and the peak of his foresight was reached when he brought the Olympics to Rome in '60. And when we talk about Olympic preparation we are talking about all sports, including football at the Olympics. Our team par excellence is the U21 of which Vialli was the protagonist".
