What is an engine?

The Unity Engine or the Unreal Engine is often used in developments. However, Rockstar Games develops its own games with the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine – RAGE for short – and is supposed to access the ninth version of it with GTA 6. According to rumors, RDR2 even served as a kind of experimental laboratory for GTA 6.
