This is masterfully attested by his latest album, the excellent Chansons de là où l'oeil se pose. "Writing songs is an exercise in imagination in which you wonder what you haven't talked about yet. I like to start from a precise lexical field." This is how she dedicated one of her new titles to the staircase that leads to her Parisian pied-à-terre. "I climb it every morning. From there, I looked at what the stairs evoked and ended up putting together a number of elements that lead to a song. Writing is a story of puzzles, crosswords, we fill in the boxes. I don't have a particular passion for stairs."
