Young modelRomi Frenkelworks quite a bit in Israel and around the world, modeling in various projects. On Monday, she bravely revealed the behind the scenes of her tough profession and the criticism she received at her audition.
Frankel posted a crying story on her Instagram page, writing: "Not usually inclined to share, but I just finished a Zoom audition from Paris and these are the feelings. The criticism of weight doesn't skip anyone." In doing so, she brought up once again the difficulties and dangers of the modeling profession, the sometimes extreme standards it demands, and the harsh criticisms that models receive for their appearance, body and weight.
Last March, modelEden Pinesalso addressed the criticism she received regarding her weight from followers, and also revealed her difficult struggle with weight: "I received countless responses from girls who moved me, but on the other hand shed a tear and reminded me of difficult days. Days when food was a best friend but also a sworn enemy. Days of escape, of detachment of suffering. And it all started with someone's dumb word. From another comment, a talkback and a statement by someone out of place who is a tactless doubt, a heartless doubt."
It's hard not to connect these cases to the tragic story ofKarin Bauman, who recently passed away at the age of only 35, after a long battle with anorexia. Bowman, who was also a model, struggled for years with the eating disorders she developed while working in the tough profession, which puts quite a few young women under the harsh criticism and sometimes unreasonable standard.
