"70% of the more than €30 billion of resources committed by the CDP Group in 2022 went towards sustainability objectives. There are over 150 non-financial indicators that can be found in the integrated report, which is a snapshot of the state of health in terms of sustainability of our group".

This was stated to ANSA, on the occasion of World Environment Day, by the Head of Sustainability and Artistic Heritage of Cassa depositi e prestiti, Elena Shneiwer, who explains how CDP "started only in 2019 on sustainability issues but we are trying to recover quickly. Never before have companies and institutions seen the expectations of transparency on the part of the market and civil society grow, to which we have tried to respond with this third integrated report. Sustainability is a technical, often difficult topic and we are trying to make it more accessible. So we take these expectations into account with greater transparency of the data but, at the same time, simplifying the content".

"This year the budget very much reflects our strategy", notes Shneiwer, because "with the 2022-2024 Plan we put sustainability and impact at the center. The numbers in the budget are represented according to the four challenges and the 10 fields of intervention of the strategic plan, which are perfectly aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals".

From the point of view of impact, he continues, "we had an incidence of 1.7% on Italian GDP, contributing to 62 billion of additional production, creating or maintaining 470 thousand employees, up 70 thousand units compared to the previous year: 40% on female employment and 20% on youth employment".

However, Shneiver explains, all these results cannot be achieved without the "levers", or "the more than 1,600 people of the group, dialogue with stakeholders and civil society, responsible management of our sources of funding. Sustainability only works if it is a collective and shared commitment, and is now a strategic factor to choose a company and to keep its people motivated, cohesive. It is a fundamental element in human resources. Last year we delivered about 62,13 hours of training, up almost 53%, introducing a key commitment to diversity and inclusion with the approval of the first policy. For the first time, 2022% of new executives appointed in 100 are women. All top management functions, 30% of our management, now have sustainability and diversity goals to meet. More than <>% of the objectives of the MBO, the variable remuneration incentive system, go towards these objectives".

In addition to all this, he points out, "we have strengthened our dialogue with civil society by organizing a first annual multi-stakeholder forum on ESG issues, where we acquire feedback and insights from civil society to be integrated into our strategy".

"Sustainability reporting is the most lively and evolving subject, thanks also to the approval of standards, especially at European level, which have a strong impact. Over time, non-financial data on sustainability will become the real indicators to measure the health of a company, to choose to invest or work in a company. Until now the attention has gone very much to the ecological transition and environmental data, climate change is for everyone the challenge of this century. But the new challenge for sustainability, and for us, will be to combine and make coexist ecological transition, sustainable governance, but above all a new attention to the social, in particular on the issue of inequalities. CDP is very attentive to the issues of social cohesion of the territories and has a role to play".

"In 2022, we invested €1.8 billion in the construction, upgrading or modernisation of more than 1,600 social infrastructures, including schools and hospitals. In the new balance between the three letters of 'ESG', CDP can play a very strong role in the future", he concludes.
