The "Supernatural" prequel "The Winchesters" has accepted its fate: All rescue attempts after the cancellation at the Upfronts have failed. Jensen Ackles and the showrunner have already commented on this.
"The Winchesters" was one of the many series that were canceled at the Upfronts in May by the small network The CW, which has made big changes (we reported). Producer Jensen Ackles, who created the "Supernatural" prequel with his wife Danneel and others, immediately promised to look for a new home for the series after the bad news. But in the meantime, according to TVLine, the rescue attempts are considered to have failed.
Ackles ended the #SaveTheWinchesters campaign on Twitter as follows: "Thank you to everyone who saw, followed and supported this story. And to everyone who brought this show to life... I couldn't be prouder of what we've all accomplished together. But as they say, timing is everything. A massive change of channels coupled with a writers' strike... Well, that's an unfortunate time. Sleep well, @WinchestersOnCW... Maybe we'll see each other again, sometime in the future." Praying emoji hands are at the end of his tweet.
