Mexican police arrested on Sunday three people allegedly implicated in the murder of Italian citizen Ornella Saiu, murdered on May 31 in the resort of Playa del Carmen.
This was reported to ANSA by local sources.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Mexican State of Quintana Roo then confirmed the arrest in the state of Veracruz of three people allegedly involved in the murder. This was stated at a press conference by Attorney General Oscar Montes de Oca specifying that the three arrested "will soon be made available to the local judicial authority".
Saiu, 40, originally from Sardinia, was killed by a hitman with a gunshot to the face while she was serving at the tables of a well-known cafeteria in the coastal town of the state of Quintana Roo.
