Fibii in the TikTok beauty craze: Desire for weight loss worries colleagues
Fibii's wish: Fibii has become an integral part of the German streamer landscape. Despite her young age, she has become a true force on Twitch. But Fibii doesn't seem to be spared from comparing herself to other women either. On Twitter, she posted a picture of a TikTok user whose body she takes as a role model. "I'm going to try to lose as much weight this month to make my belly look like this. Calorie deficit, I'm coming." Here is the post on Twitter.
Here's how colleagues react: Her plan makes her fellow streamers sit up and take notice. The ideal image that Fibii pursues is unrealistic and dangerous. For many, such a desire seems like the beginning of an eating disorder. Jasmin "Gnu" Sibel also spoke up; the streamer herself suffered from such a disease, as she was also confronted with similar ideal images at a young age.

"As someone who slipped into a fatal eating disorder that destroyed everything because of such goals, I advise you to lose weight slowly over several months. You have such a great figure, Fibii! I've always looked to others and that was my downfall." Jasmine makes it clear that a drastic calorie deficit is not a healthy option to lose weight. The constant comparison with supposedly perfect bodies can also promote eating disorders.
What is a fatal eating disorder?
Fatal eating disorders are mental illnesses that are characterized by a disorder of eating behavior and the relationship to one's own body. Those affected are confronted with the constant thought of food intake and the resulting weight gain, but there are subforms and mixed forms. It is often very close to how many calories are supplied to the body and in some cases, if the intake is too high, self-induced vomiting or the abuse of laxatives is resorted to.

How dangerous is that? Fibii's fans also think that her desire for the supposed ideal is unhealthy. Comments are piling up under her post that she should take care of her mental health. According to Statista, around 2022 percent of all girls between the ages of 33 and 14 in Germany showed symptoms of an eating disorder in 17, compared to 12 percent of boys. The number of sufferers has tended to increase in recent years, which is partly attributed to the fact that young people develop unrealistic role models through social media.

It remains to be seen whether Fibii will be deterred from her project, as she did not respond to the comments of Jasmin Gnu and her colleagues on Twitter. Even though Fibii's fans are worried about her, the streamer doesn't just get encouragement on Twitter. For a casual outfit, Fibii received nasty comments on the platform.
