"Lydia is dead." The first set, a blow, a disaster. On the morning of May 3, 1977, she did not show up for breakfast. The following day, the police find Lydia's body. Murder or suicide? The favorite daughter of James and Marilyn Lee was a calm, ambitious and intelligent girl. For the older brother Nathan, it is clear that Jack is to blame for Lydia's death.

The novel tells from the perspective of each member of the family and thus leaves no room for boredom. He shows how their relationships and conflicts contributed to the tragedy and that there are always multiple sides to a story. It also deals with topics such as racism, gender roles and the search for identity. Celeste Ng knows how to captivate her readers with words and so this novel is in no way inferior to a thriller in terms of suspense. Nevertheless, he is not as gloomy as he suggests, but clarifies, apart from the actual tragedy, rather other aspects in the lives of the individual family members.

The very entertaining and entertaining novel by Isabel Bogdan really makes you smile. Novel: Gut gegen Nordwind - Daniel Glattauer

In his collection of individual enamels alone, Daniel Glattauer manages to put as many emotions into the bestseller as only he can. The novel reads very quickly due to its purely paragraph-only form and perfects the completely new way of telling. A ravishing book about the power of words and love in the digital age.

The book is an astute examination of racism and identity in today's society. However, it is by no means instructive, but lets you empathize with the main protagonist and look at the dilemma from a different perspective. And even if the story makes you realize how much is still going wrong, it is not very depressing and in its presentation it is a pleasure to read. A bestseller that was nominated for the Booker Prize.

Novel: Miracles - Raquel J. Palacio

August is different. Nevertheless, like all boys his age, he does not wish to be an outsider. Because he had to have facial surgery so many times since he was born, he has never gone to a real school. But now he's supposed to be in fifth grade. He knows that most children are not intentionally mean to him. He would prefer not to attract attention at all. But it's not easy not to stand out when you have so much courage and strength, are so funny, clever and generous - like August.

A touching book about friendship, tolerance and self-acceptance. Here, too, the story is told from the perspective of the main protagonist, but also friends and family members. August is insanely charming and endearing not only as a character, but also in his narrative style. The book presents an important message in a humorous and heartwarming way and makes its readers laugh as well as cry. An absolute must-read for young and old.
