Actor and director Guillaume Canet will be the president of the jury for the 49th edition of the Deauville American Film Festival from September 1 to 10, organizers announced Tuesday. "Guillaume Canet will be the president of the Deauville 2023 jury. Actor in more than 50 films, director, author of 8 feature films, producer, screenwriter... A president of the jury as unifying as open-minded for this 49th edition!", wrote the organizers of the festival on Twitter.
Guillaume Canet, 50, succeeds Arnaud Desplechin who was president of the jury last September. "I have always been fascinated and passionate about American independent cinema. And especially that of the 70s. Sam Peckinpah, Jerry Schatzberg, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese...", said Guillaume Canet, quoted in a press release published on the Norman festival website.
