Just considerations of public order had sunk the hypothesis of playing in Friuli. To raise more than one perplexity the Federation of Police Unions who had pointed out how the fans should have "traveled the same stretch of motorway of the A4", in the words of its secretary Valter Mazzetti. "The highway and its many staging points risk becoming a battleground." From Liguria there were also political protests against the choice of a destination much further from La Spezia than from Verona.
