Comedian Catherine Tate is not only returning to "Doctor Who" this year, but is also coming up with a new UK comedy series called "Queen of Oz". In it, she plays a scandalous member of the royal family who is exiled to Australia. Series production will start in June.
British comedian and actress Catherine Tate will star in the three-part "Doctor Who" anniversary special for the series' 60th anniversary at the end of the year, starring again as TARDIS companion Donna Noble. In addition, however, she already has another series iron in the fire, namely the royal comedy "Queen of Oz", which starts on June 16 on BBC One. Six episodes were ordered.
In "Queen of Oz", Tate plays the English party princess Georgina, who is exiled to Australia after a public embarrassment involving school attendance and alcohol in order to spare the royal families future scandals. Together with her new employee, PR lady Zoe (Jenna Owen), private secretary Bernard (Robert Coleby), security chief Marc (Rob Collins), assistant Matthew (William McKenna), budget manager Weiwei (Anthony Brandon Wong) and lady-in-waiting Anabel (Niky Wardley), she sets off for Down Under, where the blue-blooded woman makes the next faux pas, dazed by jet lag.
