A worker died this afternoon after falling from above while working in the Fantoni factory in Osoppo (Udine). For reasons that are still being investigated, the man, who was an employee of an external company, fell from above. It happened around 17 p.m.
After receiving the call to the single emergency number, the operators of the Nue112 Service transferred the call to the Regional Health Emergency Operational Structure. Sores nurses sent an ambulance from Gemona del Friuli (Udine) and a medical car from Udine. Immediately the worker was taken in charge by the health workers who started the life-saving maneuvers. The man, however, died due to the severity of his injuries and it was not possible to do anything but ascertain the death. The fire brigade and the public force have also been activated.
In a note, Fantoni specified that the worker was an employee of a cooperative, Idealservice, and was engaged in the Osoppo plant. The man carried out cleaning activities on behalf of Fantoni and was working on the roof of the Plaxil 7 plant, which produces chipboard, an area currently under maintenance. Suddenly the worker slipped, shattered a skylight and fell on the production line below. The Fantoni staff "immediately alerted the rescue and, subsequently, gave maximum cooperation to the authorities who are ascertaining what happened", concludes the company's note.
