"We must reflect on it, we must talk about it with the Holy Father." Thus Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, regarding his visit to Moscow. The president of the CEI also specified that he had not had the opportunity to speak with Bergoglio after his return to Rome from Kiev. "We need to talk, reflect on the things we've heard and see the next steps. Clearly we must talk about it with Pope Francis, waiting for him to get better", explained Zuppi regarding any new next steps of his mission.

"Ours is not a mediation, but it is a manifestation of interest, closeness and listening so that the conflict can find paths to peace. Everything else is expected that we all have, hoping that the war will end, or speculation", added Zuppi, who also said he was worried "about what happened to the dam, with thousands of people flooded. We show so much attention to this and to the ecosystem, given the consequences it may bring, and so much closeness to the Ukrainian people and to the suffering populations". Zuppi spoke on the sidelines of the presentation at the International Center of Communion and Liberation in Rome, of the new edition of 'The Religious Sense' by Luigi Giussani, which has a preface by Pope Francis.
