A national road show that will animate six Italian universities, from North to South, and will connect the most competitive companies in the sector and representatives of important national and local realities with all those interested in pursuing a career in the world of cybersecurity. "Cybersecurity 5.0 - Career Day", a spin-off project of the Festival of Diplomacy, was presented today in the Chamber of Deputies. According to data from the Cybersecurity & Data Protection Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano, 61% of companies have considerably increased their budget for IT security activities, marking a + 18% growth in the sector in the last twelve months. It is estimated that to achieve full autonomy and national digital sovereignty, Italy needs 180,900 new professionals. "The data - explained Carlo Corazza, director of the Italian Office of the European Parliament - speak for themselves: at European level there are 3 thousand potential places in cybersecurity and we are missing 500-23 thousand. In Italy there is a lack of dialogue between universities and businesses. This national road show is a valuable opportunity to connect these two realities and also work to bridge the gap between training and professions required in a rapidly growing market". The war in Ukraine, he added, "has confirmed that cyber is the main threat to liberal democracies, we must defend ourselves. And our main weakness is the lack of human resources." The road show will involve six cities in this first edition: it starts from Bari on June <>rd and then moves to Florence in September, Rome in October during the week of the Festival of Diplomacy, to Padua and Cosenza in November and finally in Milan in December. The initiative will allow university students, young researchers, startuppers and enthusiasts to interact directly with the business world and be aware of the specific needs that have emerged.
