She decided to donate the room of her son who died due to rare sarcoma to a man from Sant'Agata sul Santerno, in the Ravenna area, a disabled migrant who lost all his furniture in the flood of May. An intense story of solidarity and elaboration of the loss that touches the heart of Romagna, while politics still wonders what could have been done to prevent the disaster: the flood "in those dimensions could not have been avoided. The damage could have been contained - is today's comment of the Minister for Civil Protection Musumeci - in Italy and also in Emilia-Romagna prevention has been lacking". Laura Lamari, protagonist of the solidarity gesture, is from Genoa, a territory equally marked in the course of history by floods. His son Stefano Cordì, a musician, passed away in February 2021 when he was only 30 years old, after being diagnosed in 2018 with small round cell desmoplastic cancer, due to genetic modifications. The woman immediately engaged in projects to support people affected by rare oncological diseases and their families; he also created an association that bears the name of his son "S.t.e.f.a.n.o", an acronym for "Science, technology and funding help in oncology". Among the objectives, the support of scientific research against sarcomas and the elaboration of mourning for parents who lose their children. Elaboration that also touches things, material objects, those that preserve so many memories and are difficult to let go. For Laura, among them is Stefano's room. The images of Emilia-Romagna devastated by floods and mud did not leave her indifferent. "During the flood in Genoa, my son had been one of the mud angels. He would have gone to help even in Romagna if he had still been alive - confides his mother - he was generous, he gave to others. And I decided to donate his room to honor his memory." The announcement on a Facebook group has collected many adhesions: many from Genoa have offered to disassemble the furniture, transport it to Emilia-Romagna and reassemble it. Then Laura received a private message, "as a sign of destiny", she says, in which she is told the story of Andaz Aziz, an immigrant to Sant'Agata sul Santerno for some years, where he lives with his family, wife and two children: "They told me about him, that he needs help. His story struck me so much - he explains - still a minor to escape persecution against the Kurds lost both legs on a mine. Then he arrived in Italy. The flooding filled his house with water and mud, he has nothing, his furniture destroyed, even his car with special controls, and his prostheses were damaged". A life that "reinforced even more the joy of the gift - concludes Mrs. Lamari - He accepted Stefano's room. My son would have told me: good mother". After the necessary works to rearrange the house of Sant'Agata, in early July Stefano's room will be revived within the walls of Aziz.
