The Rose Festival returns on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 June in Busalla for its 21st edition: food and wine, events, shows and exhibitions by the Municipality and Pro loco of Busalla to celebrate the Slow Food presidium of the Rose from syrup of the Scrivia Valley. The heart of the festival is the Rose Festival in the Piccola Velocità area that will offer a complete menu inspired by the Ancient Rose of the Scrivia Valley, in which an unprecedented rose pesto stands out.

The Rose Festival will offer the opportunity to present the two initiatives being studied by the Municipality to consolidate the floricultural tradition: the project for the conservation and characterization of varieties of syrup roses grown in the Scrivia Valley and the establishment of a committee for the request to the Ministry of Agriculture of the PDO for the Ancient Roses of the Scrivia Valley. "These are initiatives with which we intend to promote a path oriented towards sustainable agriculture and the enhancement of local typicality, also for tourism purposes - explains Fabrizio Fazzari, councilor for tourism and culture of the Municipality - We asked Crea to verify if the biological characteristics of the Valle Scrivia rose allow to define a unique biotype in the world, it would pave the way for European funding to create protection areas in the municipalities of the valley and in the Antola Park".

For the President of the Regions Giovanni Toti the Rose Festival "is an institution of our territory and celebrates one of its most renowned traditional productions. The roses of Valle Scrivia are a perfect example of a product that contributes to making the food and wine panorama of our region unique and inimitable!.

"It is our goal to reach the registration in the National Register of Biodiversity of Agricultural and Food Interest and to start the path to get to the recognition of the PDO for the Ancient Roses of the Scrivia Valley", underlines the regional councilor for Agriculture Alessandro Piana, while the regional councilor for Tourism Augusto Sartori explains that "the Rose Festival is an event that attracts more and more visitors who want to discover the secrets of roses and taste the famous syrup".
