EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be on a mission to Tunis on Sunday morning with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. In Tunis, a meeting is scheduled with President Kais Saied on migration and economic and energy cooperation. This was announced by the European Commission.
"There is a constructive dialogue with the Italian authorities" on the Tunisia dossier "and this is demonstrated by the fact that President von der Leyen will be with Giorgia Meloni" in the African country. This was said by the spokesman of the EU Commission, Eric Mamer, speaking of Sunday's mission.
"The fact that there is a trip does not mean that there is an agreement with Tunisia" but with President Kais Saied "there will be a discussion on the various aspects" of relations and cooperation between the EU and Tunis.
"The IMF remains a strong partner of Tunisia, our engagement continues and stands ready to support Tunisia in its economic reform efforts," said Julie Kozack, Director of the Fund's Communication Department.
