Giulia Tramontano was hit with at least 37 stab wounds, two of which were lethal in the neck region, one severed the carotid artery. There are no signs of defense. These are the first results of the autopsy carried out on the corpse of the 29-year-old 7-month-pregnant woman killed by Alessandro Impagnatiello. The stab wounds were almost all inflicted in the upper part of the body, one also in the face and one punctured a lung. There are no signs of stab wounds to the abdomen.
With further analysis, however, others could also be identified, up to almost forty in total. Two lethal ones: one that severed the carotid artery and the other always in the neck area and that hit the subclavian artery. It is not yet possible to say with certainty (only subsequent reports will be able to establish it) if Giulia was attacked from behind, but it is one of the prevailing hypotheses. At least two were inflicted on the back. The Prosecutor's Office has already contested in the request for pre-trial detention, in addition to premeditation, also the aggravating circumstance of cruelty (not recognized by the investigating magistrate), and this dynamic of murder strengthens the hypothesis. It is difficult, with the analyzes carried out today, to date the crime - which should have occurred, according to the investigations carried out so far, between 19 and 20.30 on Saturday 27 May - because the burns have altered the tissues and there are no hypostatic stains. All other answers, including the results of toxicological tests, those on the fetus and, for example, whether the body was burned when it was already dead (this is one of the questions), can only come with the filing of final reports entrusted to a pool of forensic doctors and specialists.

From a legal point of view, the position of little Thiago could change if Giulia had begun labor. This was explained by the lawyer Giovanni Cacciapuoti, lawyer of the victim's family, leaving the institute of forensic medicine. "We do not know if under the stress of the homicide action, there may have been an impulse of increase, for example of oxytocin. If labor had begun, there would be a mutation of the charge."
"To have the availability of the body - he added - it takes a few days, also to be able to organize the funeral rite to Giulia and little Thiago. In the middle of next week we hope to have the body to be able to provide for the funeral. The family is stunned by this pain, but knows that these times are needed for the investigations. Today the father was present with another family member".
