The front of Silicon Valley companies that want to reduce smart working is widening. After Meta, Google also goes in this direction. According to an internal memo of the company - which the specialized site The Verge has seen - the American giant requires employees to stay three days a week in presence, the total remote work will be provided only for exceptional cases. The email also reminds employees that managers can account for absences in the performance review.
"We know that many people have switched to fully remote work for many good reasons, while we have all adapted to the pandemic - reads the memo of the tech giant - For those who work remotely and who live near a Google office, we hope you will consider switching to a hybrid work schedule. Our offices are where you'll be most connected to the Google community. In the future, we will only consider new requests for remote work for exceptional cases."
After the critical years of the pandemic and declared the end of the state of emergency by the WHO, several companies are asking their employees to return to presence, at least a few days a week. Meta-Facebook is also reorganizing work shifts with the intention of bringing employees back to the office starting September 5 for at least three days a week. Employees who previously carried out their tasks remotely will remain in smart working.
