In Rome clash over the children of gay couples on the eve of Pride

2023-06-09T14:13:40.139Z

Highlights: This morning the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri proceeded to the transcription of the first two foreign birth certificates of children of two mothers. It is a child born in France with Italian and French mothers and a girl born in England, with a couple of Italian-English mothers. "This act guarantees minors the recognition of Italian citizenship with the relative rights and mothers full duties towards them," reads a note from the Capitol. The transcription arrives at the eve of RomaPride, already at the center of controversy for the patronage removed from the Lazio region precisely because of the opposition to gestation for others.

(ANSA) - ROME, JUNE 09 - This morning the mayor of RomeRoberto Gualtieri, in the presence of Councilor Andrea Catarci and the coordinator of the LGBT + Rights Office Marilena Grassadonia, proceeded to the transcription of the first two foreign birth certificates of children of two mothers. It is a child born in France with Italian and French mothers and a girl born in England, with a couple of Italian-English mothers. "This act guarantees minors the recognition of Italian citizenship with the relative rights and mothers full duties towards them," reads a note from the Capitol.
The transcription of the two births arrives at the eve of RomaPride, already at the center of controversy for the patronage removed from the Lazio region precisely because of the opposition to gestation for others.
"We will turn to the prefect of Rome, Lamberto Giannini, because the mayor of the capital Roberto Gualtieri is the first who must abide by the laws and cannot distort them for his political convictions", attacks Federico Rocca, Capitoline councilor of Fratelli d'Italia and president of the Transparency Commission of Roma Capitale.
"Today's decision has the flavor of a subversive act, built to make us forget the painful conditions in which the capital finds itself, a shadow of itself. We will deliver to the mayor the Tapir of illegality", adds the vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies Fabio Rampelli of Fratelli d'Italia. (ANSA).
