(ANSA) - MILAN, JUNE 09 - Italgas acquires Veolia's water activities in 3 Italian regions: Lazio, Campania and Sicily, thus closing the exclusive negotiations launched on March 14. "We have taken an important step to become a reference player also in the water sector", commented the CEO, Paolo Gallo, according to whom the water activity is for Italgas "a strategic objective to which we aim with conviction, in the awareness of being able to create value for the country by borrowing the skills and cutting-edge technologies developed in the gas sector".
As for Veolia, Siram's CEO Emanuela Trentin explains that "it will remain active in the water market through technological services and advanced solutions, also contributing to energy security and decarbonisation to meet the country's significant demand for energy efficiency and acceleration of local and decarbonised energy production".
In Sicily, Italgas' shareholding package includes 100% of Acqua Srl, which in turn directly holds 98.7% of Idrosicilia S.p.A. and, indirectly, 75% of Siciliacque.
