(ANSA) - SCARPERIA (FLORENCE), JUNE 09 - Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati) set the fastest time in the second test session of the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at the Mugello circuit. The Piedmontese rider beat his teammate Marco Bezzecchi of the VR63 team by only 46 thousandths and the Spanish Alex Rins' Honda by 81 thousandths. The long-distance fight at Ducati continues, with the two riders only one point behind in the world standings and by a handful of thousandths even in the race. The other official rider of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, Enea Bastianini, who in fact begins his season this weekend, after the injury that kept him out of the garefin from the first round of this 2023, obtained the 6/ocrono. Luca Marini (Ducati - VR2) closes the direct access to tomorrow's Q46. The crashes that fortunately did not cause consequences to the riders, but are putting a lot of effort on the mechanics to repair the bikes, involved Marc Maquez (Honda) at the Biondetti corners, Fabio Di Giannantonio at SanDonato and Takaaki Nakagami (Honda) at Arrabbiata 2. A great test of courage instead for Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) who, in pain since this morning after falling yesterday while training on his bike and ending up in the gravel this morning at the Bucine curve, managed to get the 9th time. But the accidents did not only involve MotoGP riders: in Moto2, there were moments of concern due to a fall at the Biondetti corner by Rory Skinner. The British rider lost control of the bike which initially took the escape route and then pointed again towards the asphalt ribbon.
After numerous somersaults that have in fact caused destruction, the bike ended its race in the middle of the track so as to force the race direction to expose the red flag to allow the stewards to clean up the asphalt. The session was suspended for 6 minutes. The crash did not cause any physical problems to the rider. (ANSA).
