With high and ever-increasing food prices, not every household can afford to shop. A Netto employee helps with this.

Munich – Are you buying less food since prices have risen sharply in recent months? Many people in Germany have to do without some products. An alleged Netto employee is therefore trying to do something good for some customers.

Netto employee gives away food to many people

In a Reddit post, one user stated that he was a Netto employee and wanted to help people in financial need. According to his own statement, he achieves this by charging "customers who are really socially exhausted, no costs for their bread products". As he writes, much of it is thrown away in the evening anyway, "farmers then use the bread products for their pigs." The employee's action is apparently not agreed: "Do it on your own responsibility."

The Netto employee then explains: "Some customers live on the streets. For many, it is obvious that they need help." Another Reddit user pointed out that "often the simple selection of goods can be used to determine with certainty whether someone has to divide every euro exactly."

Reddit users celebrate the Netto employee for his action

Even though many food prices are no longer as high as they were at the beginning of 2023, some people in Germany still have to cut back. Reddit users therefore celebrate the Netto employee for his action. "Top attitude," wrote one user. Underneath, he wrote his own story, in which he helped people in need: "I worked at Kaisers in Berlin alongside my studies. At some point you know your regular customers. I've only scanned every second product of them."

According to the Netto employee, no customer has noticed his action so far: "I thought a customer behind you would have noticed something. Maybe some people are wondering about the prices I'm saying." He has been not scanning the baked goods for several months, and he is not afraid of being dismissed. Whether the post creator is really a net employee who gives some people free bread cannot be confirmed one hundred percent.
