From the flood in Emilia-Romagna, to the law against land consumption to the issue of patronage taken away from Pride by the Lazio Region, the secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein, speaking to the Republic of Ideas in Bologna touched on several social and economic priorities of the country.
"Meloni attacks me from the Vespa farm. Be concerned with giving answers to the country more than worrying about me and my concerns. It is a government that not only thinks it decides what to talk about and how the opposition should do the opposition, but does not answer questions and chooses questions".
"I continue to insist with all opposition forces trying to build an alternative to this government," he said. We have differences, but we must be able to put common ground in front of us. "It is time for this country to give itself a law against land consumption, because every child is born with a substantial dowry of cement on his shoulders. The government does not have a plan for clean and renewable energy on which we have enormous potential: the obsession of the Democratic Party is to keep together social and ecological issues," Schlein said. "On the environment - he adds - we must do a lot, European choices are supporting this ecological conversion, the only great work must be to fill Italy with construction sites against hydrogeological instability. The agricultural sector, for example, knows that it is part of the problem, but it asks to be accompanied by these changes. That supply chain must be respected and valued, no other choices would be understood, except the attempt to politicize this issue. That would be a dangerous precedent."
Patronage of Pride
For some right-wing "the enemies are the lgbtq+ community and I am proud to be tomorrow at the pride to which the Lazio Region has removed the patronage. There is a background of homophobia in that speech" with which the choice was justified.
