Marriage break-up, beating trouble, rumors of alcohol addiction - musician and presenter Stefan Mross has not had it easy in recent months. On SWR television, he was supposed to speak as a guest about his ARD show "Immer wieder sonntags" - but he just let his colleagues sit.
For 18 years, Stefan Mross has been on stage at Europapark Rust in "Immer wieder sonntags". And if the 47-year-old Traunstein has his way, it can stay that way for a while. His home station, SWR, also wanted to chat about the fun of the musical ARD morning pint, his plans as a musician and presenter last Wednesday in the "Landesschau Baden-Württemberg".
But Mross, who recently had trouble because of a hotel brawl and about whom there are rumors of alcohol, let his live performance burst. "I'm sitting here – unfortunately alone," said "Landesschau" presenter Jürgen Hörig, visibly perplexed. "Actually, Stefan Mross would have been our guest today, but he didn't arrive. Maybe he's stuck in a traffic jam somewhere... All the best if he hears or sees us somehow." Because the editors had hoped until the end for the spontaneous arrival of the entertainer, an interview from the archive had to fill the gap in the conversation in the show.
But where was Stefan Mross? This was not only the question asked by the editors of the "Landesschau BW", but also by numerous spectators who had been looking forward to the presenter's appearance. After all, around 1.5 million music fans regularly tune in when Mross presents the darlings of the pop world in front of a live audience and invites them into his "star kitchen". On June 23, the new CD of "Immer wieder sonntags" will be released, on which artists such as the Amigos, Hansi Hinterseer, Nicole and Bernhard Brink can be heard.
Mross could also have advertised this sampler during his talk visit to the SWR studio in Stuttgart. Throughout the evening, his colleagues tried to reach him by phone – in vain. The problem is that Mross no longer has a management team. Interview appointments are arranged by the Bavarian himself.
The worries and the mystery of his absence seem to have been solved in the meantime. In a subsequent e-mail, the presenter apologized for the failed performance. "Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding between the Landesschau editorial team and Stefan Mross," explains SWR spokeswoman Ursula Foelsch when asked by our newspaper. He had noted a different date. The broadcaster is not resentful. "There's nothing wrong with inviting me again."
