Direct bank renews online banking: Customers have to reckon with these restrictions

2023-06-10T13:44:15.530Z

Highlights: Deutsche Kreditbank (DKB) has relaunched its online banking. In addition to an app, the new browser view is now available. The bank had caused a stir because of the abolition of free current accounts. The previous banking will no longer be supported in the summer, so until then, customers should switch to the new banking. The most interesting new feature is that the orders run within the app, without TAN2go and instead with facial recognition, fingerprint or PIN entry.

The DKB has revised its online banking – in addition to an app, the new browser view is now available. You have to reckon with these limitations.

Kassel – Around 60 percent of Germans use online banking (as of 2018), according to the Federal Statistical Office. And the trend is rising. Among the providers, there are also more and more credit institutions that are pure online banks and do not have branches, so-called direct banks. One of them is Deutsche Kreditbank (DKB) – and it has now relaunched its online banking.

New online banking at DKB Direktbank: What's new?

After the DKB has already launched its new app, the browser view now follows. "With your new banking in the browser and the new DKB app, everything becomes more modern and intuitive for you - and remains just as secure. The previous app as well as the previous banking in the browser will soon no longer be supported," promises the direct bank about the new banking on its own website. Only recently, the bank had caused a stir because of the abolition of free current accounts.

The most interesting new feature of the app is that the orders run within the app, without TAN2go and instead with facial recognition, fingerprint or PIN entry. Nevertheless, online banking should remain just as secure. And this is particularly important, because in the past, Stiftung Warentest found gross deficiencies in some online banking apps in terms of security.

New DKB browser banking – These functions are still missing

The new browser view is visually reminiscent of the new app and scores with clarity. However, those who use the new online banking must expect some restrictions. For example, it is not yet possible to process an existing standing order. It is possible to view and delete it, but it is not possible to change it here – the standing order would have to be deleted and recreated.

In addition, the overview of incoming and debiting payments is not yet as extensive as in the previous version. The filter settings are also not yet available. In the future, it is planned to install the missing functions, techbook.de reported. Since both the old and the new version are currently available for use, these problems can be circumvented. It will not be until the summer that the previous banking will no longer be supported – so until then, customers should switch.
