'Pecco' Bagnaia won the sprint race of the Italian Grand Prix of the MotoGP class at Mugello. Behind the Ducati rider was his VR46 satellite teammate and his direct opponent in the championship, Marco Bezzecchi. Third came again a Ducati, that of the Spaniard Jorge Martin (Gresini team).
In the overall standings Bagnaia rises to 106, followed by Bezzecchi with 4 points behind.

This morning the ducatista took pole position: with a time of 1'44"855 the reigning world champion Piedmontese rider also set the track record, which from 2021 belonged to Fabio Quartararo.
Behind Bagnaia were the Marquez brothers with Marc (Honda) ahead of Alex (Ducati team Gresini), respectively 78 and 152 thousandths off pole.

Meanwhile, the controversy between Ducati and Marc Marquez (Honda) does not seem to subside, the latter, according to the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, of having deliberately hindered Pecco Bagnaia during one of the attempts to conquer the pole position of the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix at Mugello. The dynamics of what happened is not very clear: the Piedmontese rider arrives very launched at the end of the finish straight, while the Spaniard is coming out of the pits. The presence of the Honda rider 'dirty', according to Pecco, the best trajectory of the San Donato corner and the gestures of disappointment speak much more than words. At the end of qualifying, at Sky's microphones, which ended with the ducatista's pole-record, Bagnaia chose a low profile ("I have nothing to say, the images speak for themselves, I don't expect any penalty, but the judges will take care of this, it's not my job"). But team manager Davide Tardozzi and Ducati Corse's sporting director asked the stewards to analyse the offending manoeuvre. Marc Marquez defended himself: "When Pecco arrived strong I went long at the corner to let him pass, but he slowed down and then I said 'thank you' so I could follow him, take the slipstream and get the second time of the day. On the way out of the pits I didn't hinder him, I was very far from him, he has no reason to complain."
