Nearly 2,500 cases of environmental damage caused by the war have been recorded in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion, according to Kiev authorities.
"In more than 500 days of war, almost 2,500 cases of damage to the environment have been recorded, for a total damage estimated at 52 billion euros," Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said in a Facebook post.
According to Svyrydenko, 174,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian land are potentially contaminated with explosive objects due to the Russian invasion.
