Corona was arrested more than ten years ago in Portugal, after an escape that lasted a few days. Fabrizio Corona "closes accounts with justice", as announced by his lawyer, because, even if he still has investigations and trials open against him, he ends up serving the accumulation of final sentences, which at first had even reached over 13 years for a series of convictions, including the now known "photo-blackmail" to VIPs.
Today the former photographic agent, who had been arrested in January 2013 for the execution of sentences passed in res judicata, has received communication from the Attorney General that, after more than 10 years, in the night between Saturday and Sunday next he will return to be free. For the former 'king of the paparazzi', who became famous when he was arrested in 2007 in the investigation of the then prosecutor Woodcock and who threw underwear from the balcony of the house when he was released from prison, "the end date of the sentence" has been set for "September 23, 2023", as a result of the so-called "early release", granted by the Surveillance Court of Milan. That is, a discount of 45 days every 6 months of sentence expiated.
"Thank you Avvo. Only we know what we have experienced", wrote the 49-year-old former owner of the Corona's agency, thanking his historic defender, lawyer Ivano Chiesa before posting a video on Instagram, also sending "a special thanks to my surveillance magistrate, Dr. Anedda". His defender, as well as Corona himself, has always thought that there has been judicial fury against him. "Fabrizio's sentence ends - said Chiesa -. After too much, definitely too long. He will be a free man, even physically. In the head and in the heart it has always been. Like me."
Corona was arrested more than ten years ago in Portugal, after an escape that lasted a few days, when the sentence for the so-called "photo-blackmail" against the former footballer David Trezeguet became final. Many other convictions for crimes ranging from tax fraud to bankruptcy, up to the bribery of a prison guard to get a camera into prison, when he ended up in San Vittore for the 'Vallettopoli' scandal, were added to the total calculation of penalties.
In recent years, then, the former 'celebrity photographer' has passed several times from prison to house arrest for treatment, including for drug addiction, and vice versa, because several times he has been accused of violations of prescriptions. Celebrate his outbursts in the courtroom, accompanied, however, also by many statements and promises to the judges to have "changed their lives". In the meantime, however, he has managed to continue working in his field, from advertising to media.
In May 2022 he went from home detention to therapeutic custody in a community in Limbiate, province of Monza and Brianza, where he had to go every Friday for four hours. He was practically already free, although to move he had to ask for many permits.
A few years ago, among other things, he was acquitted of a heavy charge of fictitious heading of assets in an investigation by the Milanese DDA. He has several trials still underway in Milan, including one for damage to an ambulance, resistance and insulting a public official, in which the judge ordered a psychiatric evaluation. He had recently returned to the forefront of the news because he was investigated in an investigation by the prosecutors of Palermo: an attempt to sell the former photographic agent confidential material on the capture of the boss Matteo Messina Denaro.
