The slopes on the Stelvio glacier, in the upper Valtellina, on the border with the province of Bolzano, reopen to the public from Tuesday 26 September. The director of the Sifas company, Umberto Capitani, who manages ski lifts in the ski-area on the roof of Europe, the highest skiable area, announced that, thanks to the lowering of temperatures and snowfall at high altitude in recent days, the snowy tracks of the ski-area are back in full safety, a destination for tourists but also for athletes of different national teams in training.
The ski lifts will be open in the morning, while the cable cars will open all day until the afternoon closes at 17 pm. The recommendation to visitors is always to ski only within the demarcated areas, the slopes regularly beaten by the staff and not to venture off-piste that could be dangerous since you are on a glacier. The summer ski season alloStelvio, after this interruption, continues until the beginning of November.
