Did she know it or not? Bijou Phillips and Danny Masterson/Getty Images, amie McCarthy
Many people were surprised after the wife of convicted rapist and "That '70s Show" actor Danny Masterson, Bijou Phillips, filed for divorce. Not because it's so far-fetched to divorce a rapist, but even obvious, but the reason why the divorce request caught us off guard is Phillips' concern and support for Masterson throughout the trial.
Almost immediately after the documents were submitted, they had already leaked to overseas gossip sites and the sharp-eyed noticed that in the five years preceding the accusations and the rape trial in which he was found guilty, the actor had not lived with his family.
Phillips' lawyer spoke to Page Six and put things in order. He said the reason Masterson wasn't registered as a tenant at his client and their daughterFiana'shome was temporary and he "just doesn't live there now," meaning while he's in jail. When asked if the actor lived in their shared home until he went to prison, the lawyer replied: "Yes, of course he would have lived there until then."

Court documents also corroborate the former spouse's claims and show that Masterson and Phillips' daughter lived with her parents from 2014 to 2018 in Hollywood, and that the property itself was sold in 2021 for $6.2 million.
It took Phillips less than two weeks from the time she received the verdict until she filed for the official divorce from the actor, which, as mentioned, surprised everyone mainly because it came after her very public support for the actor throughout the trial against him, at the end of which he was found guilty of rape and sentenced to thirty years in prison.
