Recall for chocolate mousse due to salmonella: Consumption of the candy is strongly discouraged

Salmonella is one of the most common reasons for a recall. Salmonella disease can be particularly dangerous for infants, toddlers, the elderly and people with a weakened immune system, according to the Federal Center for Health Education. This is because they can lead to longer and more severe courses of the disease. Consumption is therefore strongly discouraged.

Typical symptoms of a salmonella infection are sudden diarrhea, headache, abdominal pain, general malaise and occasionally vomiting. Fever may also occur. The symptoms can last for several days and usually subside on their own. Young children, pregnant women, debilitated or elderly people should seek medical help. In severe cases, sepsis, circulatory collapse and renal failure are possible. (sne)
