Ways to keep avocados fresh and green/@jessicaygavin
The trouble with avocados is well known: the beloved and coveted fruit struggles to survive. It is bought with excitement, waiting for long days until it softens and is ready to eat, and then it is opened, and very quickly it blackens, browns, rots, destroys, loses life and loses taste. So how do you keep avocados fresh and tasty, even after they've opened?
Now one user has discovered on an Australian food forum a simple trick that works like magic: you simply have to apply a liquid of coconut oil to the open avocado, which will prevent it from turning black and keep it flavorful in the fridge. The same user posted a photo of half of her avocado, claiming that it keeps the vitality in the refrigerator, and does not lose its flavor. "This is life-changing advice," one user wrote in the comments.
Why is this happening? Avocado browns because it contains an enzyme that causes this action as soon as it meets oxygen. Coconut oil actually prevents air from reaching the avocado meat, thus stopping the process and giving it a longer lifespan. By the way, applying lemon juice may also provide the same result, allowing the avocado to survive longer.
Since we haven't tried it yet, we don't take responsibility for this method and any changes it may make to the avocado taste.

If we're already on the subject of "avocado ripeness", it turns out that there is a simple and ingenious patent that will make your avocado ripen just the way you like, and in just 10 minutes.
Three ingredients are required: a baking pan, aluminum foil, and avocado as hard as a stone.
Instructions: Wrap the avocado in aluminum foil and place on the pan. Place in the oven at 90ºC for 10 minutes or until the fruit is tender. (Sometimes it takes more than 10 minutes to cook, depending on how hard the avocado is.) Then place the wrapped avocado in the refrigerator to cool
