The Minister of Culture, GennaroSangiuliano, and the Undersecretary Delegate for Contemporary Art and Architecture Vittorio Sgarbi have agreed to appoint Luca Cerizza as curator of the Italian Pavilion of the Venice Biennale, who will work closely with the new Director General Angelo Piero Cappello.
Sgarbi has evaluated with the minister the proposal, "difficult to understand", of the project for the Italian Pavilion that "revolves around the theme of building communities through the invitation to listen to the other" and therefore intends "to have clarifications from the curator Cerizza" but announces that "the commissioner Angelo Piero Cappello will work on a project of the new general direction of deepening the knowledge of Italian comics and the great illustrators, in collaboration with Igort". "The Ministry - explains Sgarbi - intends to enhance the activity of the Pavilion through the variety of artistic genres regardless of the choice of an artist".
