While many employers complain about the unfilled jobs, the shortage benefits others: career changers now have the best chance of a new start in an exciting profession. Regardless of whether you have always dreamed of it or are simply looking for a new challenge – regardless of the reasons, the chances of a lateral entry into a new job are now particularly good. This is because the German economy is suffering from a shortage of skilled workers in many areas. Since there are not enough qualified applicants to fill all the vacancies, there are so many opportunities for career changers.
The reasons for a job change are often manifold: frustration at work, the desire for personal development, new interests or a growing need for self-determination motivate most career changers. But a low salary, lack of recognition or the fear of dismissal can also be the driving force behind a job change. As a career changer, different industries are open to you. But not every profession actually attracts with a good salary.

Lateral entry: For whom is the change financially worthwhile?
The experience and qualifications they have already gained are important for the realignment. Although career changers usually have neither an apprenticeship nor a special course of study, the salaries of lateral entrants are not necessarily lower than those of trained colleagues. It is often the case that career changer jobs earn less at the beginning, but the salary equalizes over time.
According to BW24.de, the profession of management consultant is considered one of the best-paid career changer jobs. The average starting salary here is 3,500 euros gross per month. With growing professional experience, the monthly salary for career changers can rise to an average of 5,500 euros gross. As a rule, professions in the education system are also well paid. A job in customer service is also lucrative. Although the starting salary here is only around 1,500 to 2,000 euros, it can increase over time to 2,500 to 3,000 euros gross.
