"With all kinds of uncertainties there is a possibility of 'seeing' an increase in the price of gas.
We will consult with our services and, if it is necessary to extend this measure, we are ready to do so." This was stated by the EU Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, at a press conference, responding to a question on the possible extension of the price cap on gas in light of developments in the Middle East.
"These times of geopolitical uncertainty will create tensions in the global LNG market. We are seeing a direct impact on our deliveries from Egypt," Simson explained, stressing, however, that Brussels does not see "immediate risks."
