Do you want to offer your cat only the best? Automatic feeders are a clever solution for a healthy, regular diet for your velvet paw. Read about the benefits and functionality here.
An automatic feeder can be more than just a handsome gadget – it can significantly improve not only your quality of life, but also your cat's. From promoting cat health to adapting to individual needs and reducing stress, here are reasons why an automatic feeder is worth considering.

Automatic feeders automatically dispense a preset amount of food to your cat. This way, the house cat receives its meal on time even when you are not at home. After all, a regular feeding schedule with regular meals contributes significantly to the health of the furry companions. The advantages of an automatic feeder for cats are:
- The cat receives an individually coordinated, precisely adapted amount of food.
- Feeding the cat is also possible in your absence.
- The lining cannot dry out.
In this way, automatic feeders can, for example, help prevent obesity or make extra kilos fall.
How often should cats be fed?
The German Animal Welfare Association recommends dividing the daily amount of cat food into many small portions (at least five rations). A useful formula for the daily amount of food (for adult, healthy cats) is:
1.4 x (body weight in kg x 30) + 70
As a result, the number of calories you should feed your cat per day is calculated. A three-kilogram cat has a daily energy requirement of 196 calories.
If your cat is not prone to being overweight, you can confidently offer him dry food throughout the day. Wet food, on the other hand, should not be left for too long.
In addition, care must be taken to ensure sufficient water intake, especially if the cat is mainly given dry food.
If the cat likes both types of food, cat owners can offer at least one portion of wet food a day. If, on the other hand, your velvet paw only eats wet food, it usually manages to cover its fluid needs with it.

What to look for when buying an automatic feeder
Vending machines usually cost up to 150 euros, but from as little as 30 euros, cat owners can get practical models that use a timer to dispense the food to the cat at a defined time. When buying high-priced models, you should pay attention to the following features:
- How many meals or portions can the feeder deliver per day?
- Can the feeder also be controlled via an app?
- Can the device play voice recordings that you have previously recorded for your darling, for example a lure call?
- For cat lovers who want to watch their velvet paw eating, does the machine have a camera?
- How easy is it to clean the feeder? Are the parts dishwasher safe?
There are also corresponding models for two cats. Even wet food can be fed using a feeder. It stays fresh there until the vending machine opens. Especially in summer, such a device has the advantage of keeping flies away. Ice packs can ensure that the wet food remains tasty for a particularly long time. High-end devices, on the other hand, even create an individual feeding plan for the cat.
Introducing an automatic feeder requires patience and empathy. Gently get your cat used to the feeder.
