A picture is worth a thousand words: The spoken and online information efforts are joined by those that do not require any words and manage to resonate and hit the soft stomach even when it comes to an item of clothing or jewelry.

Last weekend, Yaron Nadvornik, chairman of the Jewish community in Finland, and his wife Galit arrived at the Independence Day Ball at the President's Residence in Helsinki.

Despite and perhaps because it was a highly publicized and intriguing event with a strict dress code, the two chose to voice the cry of the abductees still held captive by Hamas through their clothing: while Yaron wearing a tuxedo wore the disc of the abductees around his neck, it was Galit who turned heads as she walked the red carpet wearing a wrap dress designed by Bat-El Lindstrom in a white midi cut on which the names of all the abductees were stamped with black writing.

1/ Puolisoni puvussa tänään lukee 240 Hamasin panttinvangin nimet.

"I had the honor of designing an evening dress for the wife of the chairman of the Jewish community in Finland with the names of the 240 Israeli captives held captive by Hamas for the Independence Day banquet at the president's residence in Helsinki," Lindstrom wrote Saturday on her business Facebook page.

"Thanks to this project, we want to remember the abductees and keep them close to our hearts as we celebrate Finland's Independence Day together and hope for the safe return of the abductees."

Another fashionable pro-Israel gesture on the red carpet over the weekend came from Inna Vernikov, a New York City councilwoman known for her pro-Israel stances and activism since the outbreak of hostilities, who approached Irina Shavyeva, winner of the 6th season of the reality show "Project Runway," to design a dress for her in less than 24 hours for the Young Republican Club Gala of New York.

The final product turned heads, and for good reason: a strap dress with a blue and white Israeli flag with a huge Star of David on the bottom.

"Tonight, on the third night of Hanukkah, I am at the gala of the Young Republican Club in New York proudly wearing a dress draped in the Israeli flag," Vernikov tweeted Saturday night, attaching a photo of herself with the dress in a tweet that has received more than a million views on Twitter and hundreds of comments and likes on Instagram as well.

"So many Jewish New Yorkers and college students from all over the country are afraid to present their Jewish identity, wear a kippah, Star of David or express support for the Greater State of Israel. We must not be afraid! We must not be silent! Be Jewish, raise your voice, be proud. This is where we live and we will not be intimidated," she wrote, praising Shviva's work and concluding: "God bless America and God bless our only ally in the Middle East; Israel. The people of Israel are alive."
